When I came across many blogs about making money online, almost all blogs recommend In-Text advertising services like Kontera or IntelliTxt. When I started using Kontera in one of my website I experienced my traffic graph decreased slightly. I analyzed the reasons for the decrease in traffic and finally it ends up with Kontera. This is my personal experience. But for many people kontera is the biggest earner next to AdSense.
Advantages of Kontera:
- Easy to implement.
- No need for separate Ad-Space. You can add the ads without editing your template.
- These Ads are highly visible to the users and the chances for clicks are also more.
- You can restrict the ads in specific areas of the page.
- You can add this with AdSense as long as they do not look the same as AdSense ads.
Disadvantages of Kontera:
- The Hyperlink structure of the page will be messed up.
- It wrecks the Browsing experience of the visitor.
- The earnings will be shown the next day only.
In my personal view Kontera is good for lengthy pages and pages with no or very less hyperlinks. Even though the Ads are in double-lines to differentiate it from the hyperlinks, it ruins the hyperlink structure and the browsing experience of the Visitor. But on the positive side, it helps you earn an additional income. John chow?s June 2007 earnings add a $1000 from Kontera which is more than his AdSense income.

Personally, I find Kontera links very annoying, and never click them. I’m one of those that uses my mouse as I read, leading my eye a bit, and the popup ads on words breaks my train of thought as I’m reading.
So I’d vote no. Stick with the ads that take up space, they seem to work well.
Thanks for your suggestion Jay…
