Link Popularity is one of the most important offpage factor in SEO. Link popularity directly relates with the PageRank and top Search Engine Position. Link popularity is the count of websites that points to your website. Link building is one of the difficult and time consuming parts in Search Engine Optimization. There are two types of links.
One way Link:
These are links that points only to your website without having any link from your website. X links to Y and Y don?t have any link to X.
Reciprocal Link:
These are links which are exchanged between two websites. X links to Y and Y links to X.
While building links it is must to have links from Quality websites. There are many chances for getting penalized by search engines :ban:, if you have links from poor websites.
Why it is hard for a new blogger to build links?
- With no Pagerank other blogs won?t link you.
- Popular blogs expect links from other blogs with high traffic.
- You can get links only from other new blogs which may be a poor link.
How a new blogger can build links?
Web Directories:
Submitting to Web directories will get quality links for your blog. There are many directories where you can get one way links. Here is a list of FREE Non-Reciprocal directories. Start building links from the very first day you started your blog. Do this process steadily and slowly.
Here are some Blog Directories where you can submit your blog to get some targeted traffic.

Humm, nice collection of links and directories..
Vijay
HI
I have downloaded it and it is a nice looking submitter but it does lack features… but im sure Brad will add them and make the submitter better..
There are many Directory Submitters on the market now.. and as being one of the first people to release a Directory Submitter back in late 2005 I have to say they do work and save users time..
One thing.. I wish Brad did not call his product the same as ours as it is the first original Directory Submitter which can be found by going to http://www.directorysubmitter.com and it is load with many more features and loads more directories.
Thanks

Your Directory submitter may be with lots of features. But it costs $97. Since I compiled this article concerning the new bloggers, i want them to use a free tools. I think Brad’s tools is enough for a new blogger…
My only issue with directory submission software is that websites take a hit in Google when lots of backlinks show up all at once. It’s better to add links gradually over time.
You can do that with software, but the advertising on these things always makes it sound as if it’s a good idea to blast out to 1,000s of directories all at once.
Otherwise, the software you linked to has some great features. Rotating titles and descriptions is a must have to keep some variety in your links.
You’re right Jay. While adding links we have to do it gradually..
